Martin Jol admits he is another admirer of the way that the Swans play their football
Jol will welcome the Swans to Craven Cottage this afternoon looking to continue their own impressive form especially at home in the last few weeks.
But he knows it won’t be easy against a side who last weekend toppled leaders Man City from their top of the table position.
“Swansea always try to play. They play it out from the back and the keeper is almost like a 12th player so you could honestly say that I admire them for that,” said the Dutchman in tongiht’s Evening Post.
“Brendan Rodgers is someone who has got that philosophy, which is different and is why I rate him very highly because it is not easy. Brendan will be one of the candidates for manager of the year.
“If you get promotion and then, like Norwich, establish yourself in the Barclays Premier League then you have done a hell of a job.
“Hopefully they will respond well,” Jol said when questioned on how his side would respond to their defeat last weekend against Aston Villa. “It is not that we’re not used to that as we have not won enough away games anyway.
“We had a good run of five or six draws, two wins and it is not bad but it is not good enough to push for a fantastic place.
“I think we are safe from relegation as we have had a very good run over the past couple of months.
“We are not there yet so we would like more points.
“Sidwell had an operation on a hernia but it was not an easy one and then he had another operation so that could take another three or four weeks,” added the Fulham boss.
“We have got an injury with Orlando Sa.
“He played with the development squad on Wednesday and got injured again with his hamstring.”
