Leon Britton was a happy man as he put pen to paper on a new three year contract at the Liberty Stadium

“I’m delighted I’ve signed for another three years,” said Britton to the Evening Post. “It was a case of coming back and proving myself all over again to the fans, the management and the players.

“When I came back I remember meeting with the manager and saying ‘I just want to come back’. I didn’t really care what wage I was on.

“I made the mistake of moving before and I’m not going to make that mistake again.

“I loved being at the club previously but me going to Sheffield United made me realise even more what I had at Swansea,” he added.

“I might have taken it for granted, especially when you’ve been here for so long. When I came back I did appreciate it a bit more.

“Players are always going to get attention and touted about because we’ve been doing well.

“I think the players understand that we’ve got something very good going on here.

“The players know from me leaving and coming back here. I told them tales about how things were and I didn’t enjoy it, so the players know, but everyone’s got to make their own decisions in life.

“I think a lot of people are happy here. They can see what we’ve got — the environment, the team spirit, the way we play football. The whole package is brilliant.”
