Andrea Orlandi is targeting an extended stay in Swansea but accepts that the club need to make that call

“I just want to stay. The club is taking huge steps forward,” said Orlandi.

“When I came here we didn’t even have a pitch to train on and now you see we are in the Premier League and playing well. The club wants to build a new training ground and I want to be part of that. Let’s see what the club thinks — I’m in their hands.

“When I would go back to Spain last year, I’d say I play for Swansea and people would look at you like ‘who are Swansea?’ Now they know.

“They know there are some Spanish people playing here so they follow the team. They say we are the best footballing side in the Premier League, just like they do in England.

“It’s great recognition for us and for Swansea as a club.

“I’ve been ten weeks out so you need reserve games to build your fitness back up,” said Orlandi. “I didn’t feel sharp. You never feel great in the first game back, but it was a good 70 minutes.

“I couldn’t wait to be back playing, even if it’s reserve football.

“It’s good for me to put on a Swansea shirt and feel like a footballer again.

“I’ve got to work hard,” added Orlandi. “I’m a bit far from the first team at the moment, but maybe after one or two more games with the reserves, while training with the first team, Brendan will give me a chance to be on the bench.”
