Wales manager Chris Coleman has heaped praise on Swansea and their manager Brendan Rodgers for their success in the Premier League this season

The Swans will bring the curtain down on their first Premier League season this afternoon against Liverpool knowing that a win could lift themselves into the top half of the table is results elsewhere go their way.

And speaking to Wales on Sunday, Coleman said “They have done unbelievably well

“Not only were they written off early doors, but people also said they couldn’t play expansive, attacking football that they played in the Championship because the Premier League is more unforgiving.

“I had my doubts and I wondered how Brendan would tweak it.

“He’s done that here and there, but looking at the bigger picture they still have the same philosophy.

“Once or twice during the season when they had bad runs, particularly the one where they lost four on the bounce, people thought is he going to change it? And he didn’t.

“He stuck to his beliefs and he started getting good results again.

“They would have swam the channel to finish fourth from bottom, but the fact they can finish mid-table is absolutely brilliant.

“People will say that but teams have known all season how Swansea play,” he said.

“Sometimes teams do well against them, many don’t. It’s down to the manager, staff and group of players.

“There is a good feeling at the club. I have been there a few times and there is an incredible belief and togetherness in what they are doing.

“But the bottom line is they have a good manager and players.

“Brendan will probably spend and add to the squad to freshen things up.

“It will be the same philosophy, he’s such a bright coach and the passing style will remain the same.

“It will be harder because the second season is always more difficult.

“But Swansea are in good hands with Brendan.”
