Michael Laudrup has told his players to enjoy the international break and all they have achieved in the early weeks of the season

“In football there are a lot of times where you don’t have time to enjoy things,” Laudrup said.

“You go through a whole season with ups and downs playing for the league, the Champions League, the Europa League, for a cup or just to stay in the league.

“In the last game of the season you achieve it, then you are happy for three, four or five days, you go on vacation and then you come back and it’s a new ball game. A new season is starting and you don’t have time to enjoy things.

“Even when you win a game on Saturday, you have only one or two days to enjoy it and then already you have to think about the next one,” he went on.

“So I think this first international break is great for us because we can enjoy what we have done for a week or so.

“The players have been training still, but they are allowed to enjoy it.

“We don’t have that pressure because we don’t have our minds on a game at the weekend. We don’t think about the next game until the international players come back next week and we start thinking about Aston Villa.”
