Swansea’s 16 goal top scorer looked a certainty to be named in the Spanish squad when it was stated by Vincent Del Bosque before Christimas that he would be and the Spanish manager was at Goodison Park last month to see Michu in action against Everton.
But the name of Michu was conspicuous by its absence when the squad was named last week meaning that he will have to wait a little longer for the first cap, if indeed it comes.
But, as Laudrup points out, it is not easy to make the grade with Spain just now.
“It would have been great for Michu to have to got in there,” says the Swansea manager.
“But he has one small problem โhe has a Spanish passport.
“Have you looked at the squad? It is quite good.
“Fernando Torres didn’t make it, (Fernando) Llorente didn’t make it.
“You have to remember that this is the best Spanish generation ever.”
