Williams In ‘The Form Of His Career’

Williams will lead Wales out on familiar turf this evening when he captains his country against Austria at the Liberty Stadium and he believes that he is doing it during the best form of his career.

It was a slightly dodgy start to the season for Williams but since the opening few weeks he has barely put a foot wrong as the Swans defence stands strong against the best that the Premier League can throw at them and he looks to take that form into the international stage this evening against a tidy Austrian side.

“It just means I’m probably doing my job right and I’ll try to keep working hard.ย

“I think I probably am in the best form of my career, but you will have to ask someone else about that,” said Williams. “It is always nice to hear people say nice things about you and stuff. I’m not sure about that myself, but I think I have been playing well and a lot of people have been talking and saying good things.

“At the time it was nice to get the captaincy when I was going through that little bit of a rocky spell.

“For the gaffer to still have the confidence in giving me the armband was nice and we haven’t had a Wales game for a while, so I think I just tried to concentrate on my form for Swansea.”
