The Swans admitted this week that they have opened talks with their manager over an extended stay at the Liberty Stadium and that is something that pleases Laudrup as he closes in on guaranteed Premier League safety and the Swans first ever appearance in a major cup final.
It has been quote a remarkable 8 months tenure at Swansea for Laudrup who replaced Brendan Rodgers last summer after he left for Liverpool. ย He came into the club with a brilliant reputation as a player and has further extended his growing managerial reputation with a brand of football that has taken the Swans to some famous victories already this season.
Progress to the Capital One Cup Final saw victories at Liverpool and Chelsea on the way and league victories have been secured at places such as Newcastle and Arsenal.
The Swans go into their weekend fixture in 8th place in the Premier League knowing that two victories in their two games between now and the Cup Final will see them head to Wembley as the 7th best team in the country.
“Obviously when people want you to stay it’s because they agree with what you are doing, so that’s very positive,” said the Swansea manager.
“But for me the most important thing is the present and that’s what I am thinking about at the moment.
“I have one more year on my contract after this and my intention is to stay here. Always when I say that people say ‘But can you guarantee that 100 per cent?’, and I say that no-one can do that.
“In life we don’t know what will happen in the future.
“But you can have an intention, and my intention is to stay here next year because I think we have a very interesting team.
“I think maybe next year it will be even more interesting.”
And that can only be a good thing for Swansea fans all round
