If we were being truthful here we cannot claim to be hard done by with the Swans never testing Peter Cech in the home goal to any real extent despite periods of the game where they showed promise.
The desire to score the perfect goal is costing the Swans chances these days where all too often we see one pass too many being made when the moment yells out for someone to wrap their foot around it.
Gone seems to have gone the creativity of earlier in the season and the crisp triangles that gained so many plaudits at times seem to be replaced by the conceding of cheap possession in the centre of the park -something that can be very expensive against a side like Chelsea
There were positive moments – tHe return Of Neil Taylor being the biggest one but in truth it was another frustrating trip without an away league win that stretches back to December 29 when we won at Fulham
We should not lose sight of the fact we are still 9th in the table but it’s valid to say that we haven’t the cutting edge regar lifted us so high in the table to start with but 2 points from the last 18 is not a nice statistic whichever way you look at it.
Of course in that run we have played Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal but we have looked average at times and definitely look tired and a team that almost believes it’s work is done?
Chelsea could have had more today bar some wasted finishing and – as stated above – the Swans had their own chances although too often we saw the wrong option particularly in the final third of the pitch.
The two goals arrived within minutes of each other -Oscar driving home a low shot past Vorm into the corner before Lampard converted a penalty after a foul on Mata.
That in reality killed the game as a contest although the Swans looked lively in the second half but the challenge goes out to anybody to highlight anything that really worried Cech
It is difficult to bee too critical but the summer break looks as if it’s already here at times and whilst there’s no panic to be done it’s clear where the strengthening in the summer is needed
