The scores would come through one by one and I would always remember that you quite often as well used to sit there with the day’s paper and mark down the scores on the inside back page which was where the fixtures were published just in case you wanted to make reference to them later that same night.

And you always knew when someone had got a big win because any team scoring (I think) 5 or more goals would have the added triumph of having their name having the score written in words as well as numbers.

As an example: QPR 0 Swansea City 5 (FIVE)

So it was with a rememberance of those times that I read today that the Swans were increasing their bid for Wilfried Bony to an amazing £12m with seemingly now just the players current club standing in the way of the transfer coup that would shatter the Swans transfer record out of site.

At £10m which was the initial bid then I was amazed but to see a further £2m added to that almost at the drop of the hat just adds a further few £ to the bid and makes the deal more likely to happen.

The claims are that Arnhem went back on an agreed deal to sell Bony at a certain price but with the Swans now stepping up that offer and the Dutch side seem intent on making sure they get the best offer for their player.

It has been said categorically though that he will not be remaining at Vitesse and that makes the Swans looking more likely to land their player and set a new mark in their history as they prepare for the new season.
