Laudrup – We Should Have Done Better

Late goals in the second half were sandwiched around Roland Lamah’s goal for the Swans on a disappointing night that saw captain Leom Britton seeing red with five minutes to go and a host of bookings for the Swans.

Talking to the press after the game, Laudrup was not prepared to hide his disappointment “We are definitely not pleased with that,” said the Swansea boss.

“We are happy to go through and I thought we would after the first leg but once more we have seen what can happen if you don’t take chances when you get them.

“We knew they would go out and press us because they had to in front of their own fans after a result like last week.

“They took a lot of risks and we knew we would have a lot of counter-attacks but we did not finish them. They were huge chances.

“It’s fantastic to go through, but we should have done better.”

One of the things that has always impressed about Laudrup is his honesty after performances like this which is a complete contrast to some of his predecessors at the Liberty used to do after a poor performance.

Laudrup was also not impressed with the shining of lasers at goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel

“It’s obvious we don’t approve of things like that.

“The authorities or the police or UEFA have to do something with that. It’s not the only ground where it has happened.

“It’s difficult, what do you do? You can search people, but a small pen is easy to bring in.”

We know it was a disappointing night for the Swans and the main thing is we have progressed to the next round of the competition. What we can hope now is that the three players who were left behind – all of whom are key to us at the moment – will have shaken off their knocks in time for Sunday’s game where we aim to pick up our first Premier League points of the season.
