In a statement on his website, De Guzman said “Jonathan de Guzman will miss Holland’s World Cup Qualifiers against Hungary and Turkey.

“The midfielder is being hampered by a groin injury and is set to rest for two weeks. De Guzman already had to miss Swansea City’s game against Southampton on Sunday.”

De Guzman has played an important part for the Swans again this season having returned on a season long loan for the second time.

Ben Davies could also miss the Wales games through injury whilst earlier in the day Michael Laudrup had this to say “The international break comes at a good moment for us: Ashley has been training for half an hour with the squad so he needs some good training and hopefully when we come back we should all be there with the exception of, maybe, Ben.

“Ash was there to come on if we needed him but he still needs some time to be back at his best. But to see them injured is not a surprise because they do not have chance to recover – and that is why I say we have to take care of them.

“It doesn’t mean they can’t play international games and we will never say “Don’t go” – it’s up to the players’ opinions.”
