And it is not just the recent form that has given Pulis cause for the compliments he also states that they are one of the successes of British football in recent years.
The Swans won three promotions in six years to rise from the bottom division to the top whilst also securing a first major trophy last season in the Capital One Cup. Add to that a good run in Europe this season before pushing Napoli all the way in the last 32 of the competition and it is hard to argue with the statements made by Pulis.
“I watched their game at Liverpool and they played very well.” he said
“They’ve been one of the outstanding successes in English football in the last five years without a shadow of doubt.
“The way they have run the club and set it up – the new stadium, new training facilities – they have kept the continuity and identity in the football club over a period of time.
“Huw Jenkins deserves a lot of credit for the way he’s run that football club.”
Just two points separate the two teams going into the clash tomorrow and a win for either side will go some way to reducing any relegation worries that they have. Palace are of course new to the Premier League this season having won the play off final last year and are looking to be the third successive play off final winners to stay up following the Swans themselves and West Ham in the two preceding years.
The Swans though know that a win for themselves will take them into the top 10 of the division once again with just ten games remaining in the season. Relegation fears have been there for large parts of the season and a change of managers put Garry Monk in charge around a month ago “The thing with Garry is that he has been there and seen the club go right through,” said Pulis.
“There is no doubt in my mind they they just march on in the same direction.”
