Ash – We’ve Been Challenged To Go Unbeaten

The Swans go to Hull this weekend in search of a back to back win in the Premier League (something they have not achieved since December 2012) knowing that one more win would finally banish all fears of relegation for this season.

And whilst looking to remain unbeaten for the rest of the season seems exceptionally unlikely it is the manager’s way of saying that we will not just give up once safety is achieved which was criticism aimed at us last season.

We passed the 40 point barrier last season one week after winning in the Capital One Cup and seemed to hit easy street from that point forward but this time around Williams believes that the Swans will continue to push onwards once safety has been achieved.

The Swans have six games left this season starting against Hull this weekend and if they achieve the challenge of remaining unbeaten will end the season closing in on a similar tally to our first two seasons in the division.

รขโ‚ฌล“Of course we want to make sure we get the wins and the points to make sure weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre safe, although Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm not too sure how many we will need,รขโ‚ฌย said Williams. รขโ‚ฌล“Because weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre not looking at getting to 37 or 38 points and then just stopping.

รขโ‚ฌล“Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre trying not to lose again this season, to win as many as we can and to just keep going. Thereรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs six games left and itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs in our hands to achieve that.

รขโ‚ฌล“Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre not saying รขโ‚ฌหœtwo more winsรขโ‚ฌโ„ข, forget that. Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve got games left so why canรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt we try to win them all? And if we canรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt win them, letรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs not lose. Thatรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs the way weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre looking at it.รขโ‚ฌย

I would assume that as a football team we go into every game aiming not to lose it so it is hardly revolutionary thinking on this front but it certainly beats some of the negativity that seemed to come out of the club at times prior to some games.

And Williams added: รขโ‚ฌล“We know itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs a bit bullish to say that after weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve just drawn one and won one and the position weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve been in, but thatรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs the way we feel and what we want to do. Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve got to set our standards high and get back to where we have been in the last two years. We want to finish the season strong and take the momentum into next season.รขโ‚ฌย
