Oh Nathan Dyer Run Down The Wing For Me

Regular readers to the site will know that I am a massive Gylfi fan but it is hard to argue against the excellent form of Dyer who looks like a man reborn this season as his tally of three goals already tells you.

Add to that the fact that on Tuesday he was asked to captain the side for the first time and you have someone who is probably in one of the best runs of form of his career.

Interestingly the way that Gylfi and Dyer combine is enough to send a shiver down the spine of any Premier League defender with Sigurdsson assisting on all three of Dyer’s goals so far this season. Today’s two were works of art with the pinpoint pass for the first and the perfect touch for the second leaving Dyer with the task of finishing which he did on both with ease and a great deal of skill.

There has been much discussed over the past few days as to why the likes of Dyer and Routledge are getting overlooked for England and with the form of them both at the moment it is almost impossible to justify it especially when inferior players are getting their chances.

Dyer himself recognises the impact that both Garry Monk and Gylfi have had on his form “The manager has put faith in me and I’m just trying to repay him. I hope it continues, but more importantly we got the three points today.

“I played with Gylfi before and it’s amazing to have him in the hole

“All you have to do is make runs and he’ll find you. That’s what I did for both goals today and I’m just taking every opportunity as it comes.”

“He played just behind the striker and he has great vision – the link up play with him makes our lives easier.”

The Swans are currently one of just three teams in the Premier League with a 100% record and next up we have Chelsea who are one of the other two. And with Gylfi, Nathan and others on the form that they are currently on you wouldn’t bet against them creating another upset.
