The Swans have been linked with a move for the striker who has scored 61 goals in just 111 league starts for Blackburn in the two and a half years since he signed from Huddersfield. His record there was even stronger with 73 goals in 108 league starts being enough to encourage Blackburn to move for him following their relegation from the Premier League.
It has been a transfer window full of striker rumours for the Swans following their sale of Wilfried Bony to Manchester City for a fee that could rise as high as รยฃ28m. And with Bafetimbi Gomis making enough sounds that he wants away from the club as well, a move for Rhodes is distinctly possible for the Swans.
However, that move was ruled out by Monk who said รขโฌลI’ve already said I don’t want another striker
รขโฌลI don’t know where that [Rhodes] has come from; it’s ridiculous. He’s not been on our radar at all.”
Monk watched Rhodes play his part as Blackburn put the Swans out of the FA Cup on Saturday and with Gomis comments, I would not completely agree with the statement of not wanting another striker with Monk’s hand possibly about to be forced a move for Rhodes could still happen despite the denial?
