The Swans amassed 56 points on the way to finishing 8th last season which was their best performance since joining the top flight again back in 2011. Tipped by many at the start of the season for relegation, the Swans defied the odds from the start with a win at Old Trafford and went onto secure a league double over both Manchester United and Arsenal – only the third team in Premier League history to achieve that in the same season.

And with the squad looking settled the chances of repeating that are looking good for next year although it is the last season that Hartson was concentrating on when he spoke to the Official Swans website

“It was a brilliant season,” he said. “I think Garry exceeded everyone’s expectations and for him and the club to have the season they had is a credit to himself.

“He’s a clever manager. He learned an awful lot when he was a player, especially from the likes of Roberto (Martinez) and Brendan (Rodgers) as well as other managers before him, and he’s been very impressive.

“The players seem to take on board everything that he wants them to do, so on a whole I think the season went fantastically well.”
