We are already guaranteed to be above the likes of Spain, France and Italy when the next set of rankings are released and depending on the results elsewhere this weekend we could break into the Top 10 for the first time ever.
Gareth Bale’s first half strike – on his 50th appearance for his country – was enough to give us a three point cushion at the top of the group and well on course to qualify for the final stages of a tournament for the first time since 1958.
After so many near misses in the past it is hard to see how we can go wrong from here with a team of quality players who have one of the best team spirits and drive that I have ever seen from a Welsh international side.
And with results now meaning improved rankings and draws for Wales going forward who is to say that this won’t be the first of a generation of success for a team that just three or four years ago looked a lost cause
