Coleman’s stock will be at an all time high at the moment as he leads Wales towards what would be a first major finals since 1958. Friday’s win over Belgium saw them move three points clear of the rest of the group and in pole position to reach France.
And with the latest FIFA World Rankings ready to show them above some of the traditional powerhouses in Europe, captain Williams knows that there will be interest in Coleman from some of the Premier League clubs who may look to a change in management at some point.
“The results could put Chris in the shop window. I know he’s enjoying it with Wales right now, but I don’t know about his future” said Williams
“He’s done such a great job to turn it round from where we lost 6-1 to Serbia to beating Belgium. The credit is down to him”
Coleman’s current deal with Wales expires next summer but the FAW will surely want to keep on the man who has turned things round so much with Wales not guaranteed a top seed spot in the World Cup qualifying draw next month – just four years having been in the bottom pot for the last draw.
Coleman himself is targeting Wales moving above England in the World rankings “That hasn’t happened in a while has it? ” he said before adding “In fact, I don’t think it has ever happened, that would be a nice bonus. It’s a big turnaround.”
