The striker – who spent last season on loan at Manchester United – will put pen to paper on a deal with the Premier League Champions and could even make his league debut against us on the opening day of next season.
This has led sections of the media to believe that the chances of Remy moving away from the club have taken a step forward and Swansea remain at the top of many people’s lists for him to find a permanent home.
I still genuinely cannot see this deal coming off. Remy will cost a reasonable amount not just in transfer fees but in wages and I suspect that if he was going to be in a position where he would settle for a rotation basis in the team then he would be more likely to settle for that at Chelsea then he would do at Swansea.
That said, we have been linked before and reported as being interested so it cannot be completely discounted but the possibility for me is a very slim one. Remy will almost certainly for me leave Chelsea though this summer but I will stick my neck out and predict that he will end up away from the Premier League rather than at another club at this level.
It does seem though that Swans fans in general agree with my view on this one, over 80% who voted in our recent poll suggested that he would not end up at Swansea for the reported fee of รยฃ10m.
Time will though, as we always say, tell.
