And he claims that his goal at Old Trafford – the first Premier League goal of last season – was the most important of the career and few can doubt that it was the perfect start to what turned out to be a record breaking season for the Swans.

It capped a remarkable turn around for the South Korean midfielder who was signed by Michael Laudrup at the start of the 2013/14 season but looked to be on his way out of the club when he spent most of the following term on loan at Sunderland.

Thankfully for us though the Swans refused to sell the star against the advice of their former boss and that allowed Garry Monk to get the best out of him last term around and there is much hope that we can get even more out of him next season.

รขโ‚ฌล“When I came back to Swansea last summer I wasnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt too sure about my future,รขโ‚ฌย Ki told the club’s official website

รขโ‚ฌล“But I met up with Garry and he explained what he was planning for the season and how important I was in that. It was a very honest conversation, and I decided to stay here and continue my career here.

รขโ‚ฌล“I signed a new four-year deal last summer and that showed Swansea had a lot of respect for me. Knowing that the club and manager wanted me made my decision.

รขโ‚ฌล“Scoring on the opening day of the season against Manchester United was the biggest goal of my career.

รขโ‚ฌล“We werenรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt given much of a chance to win by the pundits, especially as it was (Louis) Van Gaalรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs first game in charge.

รขโ‚ฌล“It was my first Swansea goal, and it was a very special moment and I was keen to celebrate to the Swansea fans and my wife as she was in the crowd that day.

รขโ‚ฌล“Scoring against them at the Liberty in another win was the most unforgettable moment of my career. It was a fantastic moment for the fans, the club and myself.

รขโ‚ฌล“It is a moment I will remember long after I retire from football.รขโ‚ฌย
