The signings of Kristoffer Nordfeldt, Franck Tabanoy, Andre Ayew and Eder have given us options in four vital positions where coverage was definitely weak last season and that can only be a good thing as we look to build on what was a record breaking season last time around.
But which one of our fabulous four at the moment will have the biggest impact next season given the other players we have in the squad in each position?
Let’s look at the options
Kristoffer Nordfeldt
There is little doubt that Nordfeldt will start the season as backup to Lucasz Fabianski barring of course an injury to the big Pole. However, as an international goalkeeper himself he will get game time with I suspect his competitive debut likely to come in the Capital One Cup. Garry didn’t rotate goalkeepers last season but from what I know Nordfeldt is better than Tremmel so it could happen but I think his chances will be limited but we can be comfortable that if needed we have the right person to turn to.
Franck Tabanou
This is an interesting one. A recent poll on the site suggested that Neil Taylor would hold his place for the season opener but I can envisage plenty of action for Tabanou as the season progresses. For me and looking at the stats Taylor is a better defender but Tabanou possibly offers more going forward so we could see more of him at home than at away games but there will be plenty of chance to see him in action.
Andre Ayew
This is the signing that seems to have captured the imagination here in Swansea but also praise from sections of the media for being able to secure the signing of such a sought after player. It certainly is a statement of intent from us and I am looking forward to seeing if Ayew can live up to the hype in the Premier League.
Eder
Logic tells me that Eder has arrived as back up to Gomis but he has 18 caps for Portugal and got his first goal recently for his country against Italy. That has to mean that he will not be content to sit on the bench week in week out and whilst Gomis may be first in line at the start of the season I suspect that Eder will push him all the way for future games.
So that’s our four players but which one do you think will have the biggest impact over the new season? Have your say in the poll below
