Monk – This Is Our Strongest Squad Ever

Monk, heading into a second full season in management, has done a brilliant job this season of adding to the squad that completed a record breaking eighth placed finish last season.

The captures of Kristoffer Nordfeldt, Franck Tabanou, Andre Ayew and Eder have meant that the Swans have cover in every position on the pitch and this time it is cover that looks to be stronger than we have ever seen before.

With no significant departures from the club then it is hard to argue with the logic of Monk when he declares this to be the strongest yet.

Whilst staying in the Premier League is vital every single year there are plenty of managers up and down the country that know the importance of being here in 2016/17 when the new TV deal kicks in and Monk’s summer spending should ensure that the Swans are one of the 20 teams who benefit immediately from that new deal.

รขโ‚ฌล“The new guys have come in and settled really well and we have already seen signs of what they can bring to us as a squad,รขโ‚ฌย said Monk.

รขโ‚ฌล“The other side of that is we have kept hold of the guys who did so well for us last season and that makes this the strongest squad I think Swansea have had.

รขโ‚ฌล“I made it clear we could not afford to lose anyone this summer because this is going to be as important a season as this club has ever had with the financial rewards on offer when the new television deal kicks in.

รขโ‚ฌล“All these guys are committed to the club and want to help us push on and try and improve on an excellent effort last season.

รขโ‚ฌล“It will not be easy and there is a lot of work for us still to do before the season gets under way.

“But it is big for us that we will have the strongest possible squad available to us.รขโ‚ฌย
