Monk Dismisses Gomis Exit Talk

After a slow start to his Swansea career where he was backup to Wilfried Bony, Gomis sprung into life in the second half of the season and scored some vital goals to mean that he will go into this season as first choice front man for the Swans despite the summer signing of Portugese international Eder.

And it would have been a big blow if the stories of clubs being ready to activate what seemed to be a madly low release clause were seemed to be true but thankfully any chance of a move away has been dismissed.

It is vital at this stage of pre-season, with just two weeks to go until the real action starts, that the Swans keep hold of all their players and having worked together for four weeks in pre-season it would be a massive blow to lose anyone now.

Monk told Sky Sports News HQ: “He’s a Swansea City player and we are looking forward to working with Bafe for this season.

“He’s come back in really good shape and is working very well so we are looking forward to the season coming up.

“There is always speculation and obviously I think there was contact from that club to our club but thatรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs as far as it goes and, like I said, Bafe is looking forward to a season with Swansea City.”
