Samir Nabi scored the crucial goal with just three minutes left on the clock thanks to a neat one two. It was heartbreak for the young Swans who had fought back through Ryan Hedges after a stunning free kick from Adil Nabi had given Albion the lead.
It was a tough debut for the Swans at this level after they were granted Category One status in the summer and it showed the step up in opposition that it means.
However, to come through that first game with just a narrow defeat cannot worry the Swans too much and will provide good experience for the team that played.
SWANS U21s: Josh Vickers, Daniel Alfei, Stephen Kingsley, Jay Fulton, Joe Roden, Alex Gogic, Leon Britton (Tom Holland, 59), Josh Sheehan (c), Owain Jones, Dan James, Ryan Hedges
The Under-21st next fixture is next Monday away at Brighton
