Hot on the heels of an excellent summer in the transfer market the team headed to Chelsea last weekend and got an excellent result on the opening day at Stamford Bridge. In fact it could have been so much better as they took the game to the Champions and could easily have gained a win on the opening day completely against the odds.
There were four summer signings with a fifth completed yesterday in Gerhard Tremmel to complete the goalkeeping line up at the club and it is fair to say that we have now probably completed our summer work.
As well as though the player signings there were non player signings with one of those being the capture of goalkeeping coach Tony Roberts from Arsenal.
Roberts arrived at the Liberty to replace Javier Garcia who had returned to Spain and he linked back up with Lukasz Fabianski who joined the club last year. He will be hard pushed to make Fabianski better mind after a superb debut season from the Pole with a whole host of clean sheets and vital saves as the Swans lifted themselves to a record breaking 8th place in the Premier League.
But Fabianski knows exactly what he has in store this season having worked with Roberts in the past but it certainly doesn’t worry him getting close to the coach again.
“I know Tony very well and the good thing about him is that he wants you to work your b******* off,” Fabianski says.”He’s a very hard-working person and he’s very well organised.
“He won’t allow any complacency, he’s always about pushing and getting better.
“For me personally, and all of us goalkeepers, that’s very important.”
“I will do my best to get better, all I can promise is that I will continue to work hard.
“The set-up within the club with the goalkeeping coach is all about working hard, to keep on pushing.
“Kris (Nordfeldt) has come in as well, I think he’s a great guy and a great goalkeeper. He gives us competition. It’s another thing that can help us improve.
“I will do my best for the team, I’ll try to perform to my best so who knows, I might improve.”
