Montero set the tone for the day when he went past Ivanovic within the first ten seconds of the match and the defender never really recovered as Montero went past him time and time again and got his rewards by creating the first Swans goal of the season from one of those moments.
However, he was taken off in the second half as a precautionary measure and the Swans attacking threat definitely went down without him on the pitch making it quite important that we get him back as soon as possible especially if he is putting in performances like that on a regular basis.
We know what Jeff is capable of having witnessed it last season and a fit Montero makes us a better side without a doubt and the likes of Ayew and Bafe must be praying to see him fit whilst Newcastle defenders will be hoping for the opposite.
But the good news is there is no worries on his fitness ahead of the game as confirmed by Swans boss Garry Monk
รขโฌลJeff is fine, he just cramped up after running so hard and needed a break
รขโฌลHe had hamstring problems last year but with the sports science we have, we have worked to limit it.
“It was in my mind when I brought him off because he’s an explosive player and it’s a long season.รขโฌย
