Shelvey did get an England recall last season but he is being widely tipped for another one this season which would be perfect timing with the Euro 2016 finals just around the corner next summer.
Shelvey has started the season in sparkling form and it is that kind of form that could bring Roy Hodgson back to Swansea to watch a midfield player that it is looking hard for him to actually do without.
And of course with the exceptional form of Jack Cork as well there could be an international double coming the way of the Swans players yet.
Trundle wrote in his Evening Post column yesterday “You need someone who is going to be brave and try to make that difficult pass which could open a team up, and you only have to look at the chances he has created and the goals he has set up to see what an influence he can be.
“At Chelsea last weekend, Jonjo played a through ball for Bafetimbi Gomis early on and he would probably tell you that he should really have scored.
“Then it was another ball from Jonjo which led to the penalty and Thibaut Courtois’s red card.
“They were both great passes, and they are what Jonjo is all about.”
Shelvey of course was up to the same again yesterday with a perfect through ball for Bafetimbi Gomis to open the scoring against Newcastle and if his form continues then it would surely almost be impossible for him to be overlooked
