McBurnie struck after just 11 minutes for the only goal of the game when he powered a header past Smith after he rose high in the box to latch on to Hanleyรขโฌโขs in-swinging cross.
Swansea wasted a golden opportunity to double their advantage just past the half-hour mark as a cross from Ryan Hedges found its way to Daniel James, but the midfielder blazed his effort over the target.
The game almost had a grandstand finish when goalkeeper Smith dashed into the Swansea box to meet Harrisรขโฌโขs corner, but he could not make a decent connection and the Swans left the Amex with all three points.
