This is one that has dragged on far too longer than I suspect either party would have wanted with Michu not in Swansea and Garry Monk not wanting him in Swansea.
El Desmarque are now reporting that Real Betis made enquiries last week and claiming talks remain ongoing.
Interestingly, the report from El Desmarque suggests that Michu is keen on “migrating from the Premier League for a return to Spain.” This is in stark contrast with comments from his representatives over the weekend, when questioned about heading back to his home country.
They told the Granadino edition of Ideal that a move to Granada CF, who have also been strongly linked, was “unlikely” given Michu has set a preference over considering offers “in England, Italy or even maybe France.”
El Desmarque have insisted: “Another factor to take into account, is that the representatives of Michu are the same as (player) Dani Caballos and (manager) Pepe Mel.” This apparently signalling that such coincidental ties could yet make a difference, if Real Betis are to convince the 29-year-old that heading back to Spain would be in his best interests.
Michu has been linked with a host of clubs this summer and still has the talent to score goals at a very high level with the challenge though being whether he can ever regain the fitness that his game undoubtedly needs.
