We all remember very well what we did in this competition in 2013 and one thing that I never thought would happen did happen and that is the Swans winning a major trophy. The final as we remember was a breeze as we made easy work of a League Two opponent but it should never be forgotten that we had famous wins at Anfield and Stamford Bridge on the road to Wembley that year.
Let’s be fair here as well at this stage of the competition all that really matters is progress and when that is what matters what you want from the draw is a home tie against as lowly ranked opposition as is possible.
That is exactly what we got this time around when we were paired at home to League Two side York City who currently stand 18th in the table with just one win to their name so far this season.
That gives us the chance to pick a second string side which we know this season is an extremely strong side and that should mean a relatively easy night at the Liberty and a place in Round Three at the end of it.
Of course we cannot take any opponent too lightly but we are an extremely professional team and given the quality of the team we are likely to pick I just cannot see anything other than a relatively easy Swans win on the night.
The game as well has to be decided on Tuesday with no replays in the competition so there would be extra time and a penalty shoot out if needed but let’s hope it doesn’t get that far!
