The Swans have fond memories of this cup as it is the only major trophy that they have won, a feat they achieved back in 2013 with a 5-0 demolition over another League Two side in Bradford City in the final.
A repeat at Wembley early next year would go down very nicely and I do believe that the Swans have an excellent chance of winning the trophy this time around given the strength of depth that we have in the squad and the knowledge that on our day we can beat any of the other sides in the competition.
We go into the second round as the highest ranked team from last season in the competition with the seven sides that finished above us all sitting out this round due to their European exploits and Monk is expected to make some widespread changes from the side that started at Sunderland last Saturday.
Into the team will come the likes of Nordfeldt, Tabanou and Eder for their first starts for the Swans whilst more established players like Rangel, Dyer, Routledge and Britton are also all expected to feature in a game the Swans should win with some ease.
We will make changes because we have a good squad,รขโฌย Monk said.
รขโฌลWeรขโฌโขve worked hard to get that squad together and the whole group are really pushing each other, they all have confidence and there are decisions for me to make.
รขโฌลThere will be chances for some to make a mark and give me a nudge, but thatรขโฌโขs what a squad should do.
รขโฌลThe mentality a footballer should have is to be always pushing and giving their best.
“Whenever they are called upon, they should be ready.
“We need to keep the momentum going again even in a different competition. We want to do well in the cups this season.”
