Grimes – I Need To Keep Working Hard

It has been pretty obvious throughout the summer that the Swans think very highly of the midfielder that they signed from Exeter back in January. He was involved heavily in pre-season and the Swans are keeping him in and around the first team squad which shows that they see him as part of their future.

Grimes, from what I have seen, does impress when he plays and whilst he is unlikely to budge any of our midfielders in the very near future he will make some Premier League appearances this season even if it is off the bench and certainly he will play a part in our cup ties I think.

He has had a pretty busy 2015 with the move to the Swans and being on international duty in the summer and now with his first competitive goal for the Swans he is looking to push on.

“I don’t like to put set numbers on things but my target is to be in and around the first team which I am at the moment and then hopefully push on and start a couple of games” he said.

“The manager hasn’t gone into things in great detail. He’s told me that I’m doing well but that I need to keep at it. There’s tough competition in the middle of the part so I need to keep working hard.

“I like to get on the ball and have the room to get forward so I see myself as kind of a No 8 so I can drop and get the ball and get forward as well. Obviously the gaffer has got me playing as a No 10 and I like that as well because I love to get forward and get in little pockets of space.

“I’m happy to play anywhere as long as I’m playing.”
