Monk – We Are Still Underdogs

The Swans have been tipped to win by pundits Mark Lawrenson and Paul Merson and there is a growing belief that they could almost be classed as favourites to win the game.

I am not sure it will ever go that far in the bookies but it does show how much people are rating the Swans at the moment – more so when you consider that Man United are unbeaten in the five games that they have played this season.

The Swans remember though are unbeaten in the four that we have played and we have already secured an excellent point at Chelsea and of course there is the memory that we did the league double last season over our visitors on Sunday so we have every right to be optimistic but definitely not over confident.

Monk is not sure on the favourite part though as he believes that the Swans are still the underdogs in the game as he explained at his press conference ahead of the game

“It’s very hard to be favourites against Man United.

“The history and the squad they have means it’s going to be very difficult.

“Theyรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve added depth and quality so are a very tough side.

“We are under dogs in front of our own crowd.

“We are confident. We’ve had good performances in all the games.

“The group are working well and fully fit. We’re all looking forward to game. The momentum has been building and excpectations are higher than ever.

“We want to improve every year. Weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve started well and need to keep the feel-good factor going.”

Swansea City: Andy Coleman has much to answer for right now
