Home Stability Has Helped Shelvey

Shelvey was rewarded for the hard work and the change in attitude this week with a call up to the England squad for their qualifiers against San Marino and Switzerland over the next few days.

It caps (pardon the pun) a remarkable 2015 for Shelvey both for club and country and as well as with his personal life – he married his partner Daisy back in the summer.

It is in stark contrast to the back end of 2014 where Shelvey’s career looked like it could almost self implode upon him. Some public criticism from his manager and a nightmare at Liverpool – his old club – where he was hit with a ban afterwards, convicted by video evidence.

รขโ‚ฌล“I got my stag do out of the way and then I worked day in, day out with a personal trainer back home in Essex.

รขโ‚ฌล“He really put me through my paces. He worked me hard and I wanted to kill him sometimes! But he was spot on.”

And to that personal trainer I would imagine he owes a tremendous debt of gratitude as, of course, do we
