Three points for Wales will secure that place in a major finals for the first time since 1958 and also lift them into the top four ranked teams in the world – one massive achievement for a team that just four years ago was ranked 117th in the world.
The win would also see them join neighbours England in the finals – they qualified yesterday – and with Northern Ireland potentially adding their name tomorrow then it promises to be quite a British affair in France next summer.
Coleman would love to play England for sure with his side ranked above them for the first time ever and he would love that to be a friendly even if it doesn’t happen in France next summer.
“All of us would love to play England because they are a great team, a juggernaut in world football and I am sure if thereรขโฌโขs a chance to have a friendly we would be right up for it,รขโฌโข said Coleman.
“A lot has been said about going above England in the rankings, who are a great team. But the rankings wonรขโฌโขt get us to France. We can have a quiet smile, of course, but my mind is on France.”
Wales faced England in qualifying for both the World Cup in 2006 and for Euro 2012 with England coming out winners on all four occasions.
