The Swans return to Premier League action after their fortnight off sitting very nicely in fourth place in the Premier League thanks to an unbeaten start to the season that has included a win over Manchester United and a draw at Chelsea on the opening day of the season.
Add to that progression to the third round of the Capital One Cup and you have a very nice position indeed for Garry Monk’s side who also went through pre-season with an unbeaten record too.
Shelvey is certainly ambitious this season having earned himself a place in the England squad and obviously has one eye on a place in their squad for France next summer with him playing a part in their seventh and eighth victory of the qualifying campaign last week.
Now he believes that the Swans can secure a Champions League place come the end of the season “I feel we can compete with the big clubs now, I feel we’re on some sort of a par with them.
“We can go anywhere or have any team coming here and get a result against them.
“I feel that outside four or five, weรขโฌโขre in that next bracket so itรขโฌโขs up to us to prove that we can push for the top four.
รขโฌลAnd I donรขโฌโขt see any reason why this club canรขโฌโขt play Champions League football with the manager that weรขโฌโขve got and the work ethic that he instils during the week.”
