Planet Swans ArchivesMonk is in contention for the manager of the month award after a superb start to the season where the side have come through their opening games unbeaten. A superb draw at Chelsea on the opening day was followed up with home wins against Newcastle and Manchester United with a point also earned at Sunderland to see us sit in the top four when the league went into its first international break two weeks ago.
Garry was of course the first manager of the month of last season as well and it is no real surprise that he is up against Manuel Pellegrini, of Manchester City, Leicester’s Claudio Ranieri and Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew, all managers who currently see their side sitting in the top four.
On the playing side the Swans have two nominations with Gomis and Ayew both nominated for their blistering starts to the season. Gomis has scored in all four of the Swans Premier League games to date whilst Ayew has scored in three during his first month in the Premier League and between them they have bagged all of the Swans seven league goals to date.
Their competition comes from Manchester City pair David Silva and Aleksander Kolarov, Riyad Mahrez of Leicester and Manchester United’s Chris Smalling.
The winners will be announced Friday morning
