Ayew capped a brilliant first season in the Premier League with the announcement of the award this morning after scoring three of the Swans seven Premier League goals in August as we rose to 4th in the table.
An opening day draw at Chelsea was followed with a win over Newcastle, a draw at Sunderland and a win last time out against Manchester United sending the Swans into the international break in the Champions League spots.
The form saw not just Ayew nominated but Bafetimbi Gomis as well whilst Garry Monk was in the running for the manager of the month award eventually missing out to Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City.
We all know though that Swansea operate as a team and it is clear that Ayew has fitted into that mentality very well which was something that Garry Monk commented on at last night’s fans forum at the Liberty.
Monk referred to Ayew as humble as he talked about how the deal came about and he certainly comes across that way on the pitch and in his comments after receiving the award
รขโฌลItรขโฌโขs a great feeling, but this award comes from hard work and support by the whole squad,รขโฌย said Ayew. รขโฌลItรขโฌโขs more of a collective award rather than an individual award because weรขโฌโขve worked very hard from pre-season until now.
รขโฌลIt shows there is a lot of quality and determination in this team. The most important thing for me is the unity and team spirit we have shown.
รขโฌลThe guys have really helped me by telling me how the league works and by giving me confidence to do what I can do. I can work even harder and do more.
รขโฌลIf we continue in the same way a lot of our players can pick up awards, but what is important is that Swansea continue to win games.รขโฌย
