Oliveira Back In English Leagues

Nelson was a January signing for the Swans last season as we bought in a second striker to compete with Bafetimbi Gomis following the departure of Wilfried Bony to Manchester City.

But the player – like so many of his loan predecessors in the striking role found game time hard to come by and when he did get some then making his mark was even more difficult.

There was no real surprise when his loan was not renewed at the end of the season although there was a small amount of speculation in the summer that he could be retained but nothing ever materialised from that.

Now he is back in this country at Nottingham Forest and grateful for the chance that he had at Swansea which he thinks will be something he can build on this season.

“In the first game I played (for Swansea), I would not say I was uncomfortable, but it was not easy for me,” Oliveira admitted.

“But by the last game, I was comfortable, I was strong and I was able to play with the right intensity.

“I am better prepared now to play in England. The six months at Swansea were very important to me, because English football is very different to the game in Portugal and Spain.

“It is a very different style and, going to Swansea last season, helped me to understand that; to feel the difference. I needed three or four months to adapt.

“But I am comfortable now, to play in England again. That experience will help me.”
