Ighalo’s strike in the first half was simple in the way that it was scored with Deeney flicking on a long clearance from Gomes and it certainly caught out a static defence far too easily for our liking.
As Garry Monk said afterwards the goal summed up the kind of afternoon that we were having as we never hit any of the heights that we were used to before the international break and that has to be the biggest disappointment of all as a fan.
On the other hand though Watford were clearly delighted with their performance and as goalscorer Ighalo explained “It was a great performance, but it’s not only this game, you see from the first game against Everton to this game we’ve been working hard as a team
“The team has been doing well, even in the last two games we played at home, so it’s a big relief and it’s a big team effort.
“I’m happy about the performance of the team, even when we were one man down we still worked hard to get the three points, so it’s a good day for us.
“It’s always a pleasure scoring and getting three points in front of the home fans, so it’s a great feeling, and I’m really happy about the way they are singing my name.”
