There are many people who believe that Rodgers should have gone in the summer and that will mean that he will be under close scrutiny this season and after back to back defeats against West Ham and Man Utd then he is already being tipped as one of the favourites to lose his job first in the Premier League.
And the bookies are already offering the odds on who will replace him with Jurgen Klopp the bookies favourites ahead of Carlo Ancelotti the former Chelsea manager.
Former Dutch international Frank De Boer comes in at 8/1 third favourite but the bookies have Monk in at 16/1 just behind him.
Rodgers is already favourite with Betfair to the first to lose his job and the pressure will be on him to get points this month as their October fixtures are already looking tricky based on their current form.
I cannot see that Monk would be the choice of the fans at Anfield should Rodgers find himself on his way – I think that should he leave then they will demand a “name” to replace him having seen the unlikely appointment of Rodgers not pay dividends despite a close miss in the Premier League in 2014.
Klopp’s name will remain at the top of many scouse wish lists but it shows the job that Monk is doing that he gets the odds that he does for these roles.
