Another Award For Ayew

Ayew arrived at Swansea on a free transfer back in the summer after being courted by a number of teams. Garry Monk and Huw Jenkins revealed at the fans forum last week that it was Ayew’s representatives that contacted the Swans first which is a massive boost for us as a club that we can attract a player of the quality of Ayew to want to play for us.

Monk has always said that the move was made for football reasons rather than any monetary ones and with three goals in his first four appearances then we should be grateful for that too.

Last week he was voted in as the Premier League player of the month, the first Swans player to win the award for more than three years.

Adding to that this week he was voted in as African player of the month in the Premier League ahead of Yaya Toure of Manchester City and Algerian Riyad Mahrez of Leicester City who were both also nominated.

In a statement released by Tunde Adelakun, CEO of Award organisers New African Soccer, Ayew received รขโ‚ฌล“overwhelming support in an unprecedented voting number count for the monthly award.

รขโ‚ฌล“We could see why Ayew won the award and kudos to him and to the participants in the vote. He just came into the Premier league and hit the ground running รขโ‚ฌโ€œ scoring spectacularly against champions Chelsea in his debut and playing well in the month,รขโ‚ฌย he added.

รขโ‚ฌล“Riyad Mahrez pushed him close, and well worthy of it too, as Mahrez, a bargain buy by Leicester for only around ร‚ยฃ500,000 has had a sterling 2015, and was the leagueรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs leading scorer in August. But I think people looked at the quality of opposition that Ayew faced and used it in determining the winner this month.รขโ‚ฌย
