Severn straight defeats to Spurs will mean nothing as the Swans go in search of the perfect tonic before the next international window that would be a win for the first time in the Premier League against our opponents.
Defeats at Watford, Hull and Southampton have taken some of the shine off an excellent first five games to the season where we came through unbeaten which included of course games against Chelsea and the current leaders Manchester United.
Monk will want to get his team’s performances back to those kind of levels as he explained “The players know how I feel, and they know themselves.
“They are experienced professionals and they are an honest group.”
So that should mean that we can expect an increase in performance level on Sunday but it is time to transform words into performances. After the three defeats mentioned above we heard that the performances were not good enough but we fell short again next time around so it’s definitely time to deliver.
“The reason why we lost to Watford and to Southampton was because our performances were not anywhere near the standards that we need them to be,” Monk said.
“You can’t do that at this level.
“But we win and lose together and we need to stick together now.
“It’s down to me to make sure that the next time we play away from home, we get the performance levels back to what we had last season and at the start of this season.
“We had high levels and we had them consistently.
“That’s what we have to have again.”
