The Swans twice let a goal advantage slip in what was an entertaining encounter as the Premier League shut up shop once more for a two week international break.

It ended a mini period for the Swans where we ended up winless but today was about much more than the result and the performance was an exceptionally pleasing part of the day and the points could easily have gone either way.

That was a viewpoint shared by midfielder Sigurdsson who spoke to the club’s official website

“The game could have gone either way at the end but I think it was a fair result,” he said

“After recent performances we were desperate to get three points today.

“They had a few counter attacks where they could have stolen the win but we need to manage the games a little better.

“We started the season really well but we have not been like ourselves the last three or four performances.

“We have dropped points, which is going to happen in the season, and there is still a long way to go but if we play our style of football we will be in the top half of the table.

“We go away now for the international break but we can build on today’s game and performance to keep the momentum going.”
