And So Here We Go Again

After the trials and tribulations of last season, the Swans will be looking for a much better term this time around although you could be forgiven for looking at last year’s table and thinking that the 12th place we achieved suggested a much easier ride than it really was.

Flirting with relegation for too long was not something we envisaged at the end of August when we had a draw with Chelsea and a win against Manchester United under our belts but that was what happened until a steadying of the ship under Francesco Guidolin (pictured above) saw us come through with some very strong end of season form to lift ourselves pretty clear of the zone.

It has been a summer of several notable departures from the Liberty with this week both captain and long serving defender Ashley Williams moving on along with one of the leading scorers of last season in Andre Ayew with over ร‚ยฃ30m coming into the bank in return.

We have had the club record signing of Borja Baston though yesterday along with Fernando Llorente and they will lead the line for us this season as we look to get the early season results that we have seen can mean so much during a campaign.

An away fixture against Burnley and home to Hull give us the chance to secure good wins early on but with the 6 games after that reading Leicester, Chelsea, Southampton, Manchester City and Arsenal it does not get much tougher than that as we look to pull some points out of the bag.

And of course this season will see us under new ownership for the first time since 2002 with the American consortium led by Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan at the helm after they purchased a majority share a few weeks back for a substantial amount of money.

When we arrived in this division back in 2011 most people predicted us to go straight back down and much has not changed with many pundits predicting for the Swans a season of struggle ahead but we know that this division can be unpredictable and will throw out some strange things over the course of the season.

But what we also know is that it will never be dull – it never is with Swansea City so it is time to buckle up those seat belts again, the Swans rollercoaster is about to spring back into action.
