It looks for all the money as if Paul Clement will be appointed as Swansea boss within the next 24 hours and already we have soundbites from full back Taylor telling us just how hard he will work for the new boss – if indeed it turns out to be Clement.
Our players have long since been able to fail to turn words into actions, you only have to see our league record of three wins and three draws from nineteen games this season to realise that. It will take more than a few words to turn around our fortunes this season and the players would do well to remember that when they are talking to the press.
Whilst Francesco Guidolin and Bob Bradley have both lost their jobs as a result of the Swans poor form, the same players are there to be picked week in week out and, in the main, continue to put in what are sub standard performances that show little fight about wanting to stay in the division.
So is it little wonder that people are getting frustrated about hearing things about “working hard” and “lack of confidence” as they don’t wash very well when fans are listening to them.
Speaking to BBC Sport Taylor said on the potential managerial appointment “He’s got great credentials as a coach and he comes highly regarded by a few people that have played with him
“Who will get the job, I don’t know. If it is Clement then all the boys will take to him and work as hard as they can and hopefully they can help to turn it around.
“You can’t make an appointment now with a view to being in the Championship next season,” he said.
“Whatever team’s going out there at the moment is not performing to the best level. That’s the honesty of it and it must be horrendous for the fans to watch.
“That’s the worst feeling. There aren’t 25 bad players in this squad. it’s just a severe lack of confidence throughout the team.
As poorly as we’ve been playing and the amount of goals we’ve been conceding, we are still about two wins away from being able to get out of it.
“Once you’re out of that bottom three, everything looks completely different. It’s the psychological factor of being at the bottom and the manner in which we’re losing which is having an effect on everybody at the moment.”
