On a day when Neil Taylor suffered a fractured cheek bone it was probably somewhat appropriate that we were to see it reported that we were closing in on a new left back and Olsson appears to be the man that Paul Clement has decided will fill the need that we have in that area.
Taylor has been much criticised over the past two seasons and, despite the performances of Stephen Kingsley, it is widely acknowledged that we do need extra options in that position and Olsson is certainly for me an improvement on what we have at this point in time.
Olsson has played 22 times for the Canaries so far this season and is widely considered Alex Neil’s first choice left back since his side suffered relegation from England’s top flight last season and has in total made more than 100 appearances for Norwich together with more than 100 for Blackburn before that.
The Swans defence is the leakiest in the Premier League having been breached 45 times in our 20 games to date and it is clear that Clement is looking for additional strength in this area with reports that he is also looking at a new central defender to bolster us there as well.
