It has been widely rumoured over the last few weeks that Everton were about to continue their pursuit of Sigurdsson that started in the summer before the player signed an extended deal to stay at the Liberty.
And with West Ham closing in on a deal to sell the sulking Dimitri Payet to Marseille it has also been reported that they were targeting Gylfi as the man to replace him at the London Stadium.
But if reports are to be believed today then Sigurdsson is ready to stay at the club and try and help them avoid relegation – at least according to the Daily Mirror.
This news will be a boost to Paul Clement on the back of yesterday’s double signing of Martin Olsson and Tom Carroll. Only last week he spoke of his desire to keep the Icelandic international at the club He said: รขโฌลI want to keep Gylfi here, weรขโฌโขre in a situation where we want to win games and to have a chance to do that at this level youรขโฌโขve got to keep your best players” he said at last week’s press conference.
