No Change In Sigurdsson Saga

A new contract was on the table it was claimed by the site – Royal Blue Mersey – that “Royal Blue Mersey can report that according to sources within the Trust, Gylfi Sigurdsson was given a new contract offer on Sunday, July 30. With that offer came a 48 hour ultimatum to sign it. The source further claims today that the Iceland international has signed that contract and an announcement is forthcoming.”

There was some digging done and some mass excitement flying around various social media sites but what appears to have happened is that someone has claimed via the Trust Facebook page that this is happening and someone in Liverpool has put two and two together and presented it as a fact.

Nothing fundamental has appeared to have changed over the past few days other than we are now in August which will show us whether those that believed the sale was being delayed for accounting reasons were right to think that.

The Swans are reported to still have a large offer on the table and Toffees manager Ronald Koeman still wants the player so it is really down to the two boards as to if and when they can agree a fee.

But for the stories that came out last night I wouldn’t believe them any more than if I was about to say that a senior source at Barcelona has suggested that we are about to hijack the PSG move for Neymar.
